20: Being Free of Pain
By Drs. Ralph & Lahni DeAmicis MH's ND's
The body was not designed to be in pain, especially as a constant state. Pain occurs when there is break in the electrical flow traveling through the nervous system. A nerve that is supposed to be sending a clear signal is either running into static or a serious blockage. Neither sounds very good and they both result in pain!
Here are three strategies to get past pain. First, we’re going to get this system to calm down. Next we’re going to get the electricity in the nervous system to flow more effectively and finally we’re going to encourage the affected systems to rebuild.
The body is never completely at rest, systems are always moving, electricity is flowing and that means friction and stress develop from things rubbing together and getting overheated. The body keeps everything calm by using special anti-inflammatory lubrication made from lipids (also known as fats), manufactured in hormonal glands throughout the body.
To get past pain, start with the Super GLA Oil Blend, a mix of three plants oils that feed those hormonal systems that reduce friction and stress irritation. People with the ‘O and B blood types’ do especially well with the heavier, fish oil based Omega-3 EPA. Taking from 4 to 8 daily of either is a good amount. Against serious pain the more you use, the better, and consider using both, since they feed different systems.
Next, get the nervous system to conduct electricity more efficiently. Drink more water. The nervous system is made up of a chain of cells that don’t quite touch each other. The electrical spark actually jumps across the space between the cells through a medium of mineral rich fluid. If the body is too dry, the spark can’t jump. Nature’s Spring Reverse Osmosis Water Filter, will keep your household supplied with plenty of ultra pure drinking and cooking water. To flush the irritating acids out of the system the body needs lots of pure water.
Alkaline water conducts electricity better than acidic water. Reference Chapter #3 , Alkaline & Acid = pH. Acid equals pain and Alkaline equals comfort. To boost your alkalinity, follow the instructions in that chapter. Essentially, that means increasing your intake of the alkaline minerals and reducing your acid minerals. Products like Coral Calcium, Magnesium, pH Green Zone, Liquid Chlorophyll (also available in gel caps), Super Algae, all help reduce the acid levels in the body.
Avoid high acid foods; soda, coffee, tea, white sugar, white flour, excessive amounts of carbohydrates and red meat. We’re not saying you have to give them up, just reduce the amounts you consume. Remember, acid equals pain. How much you reduce these foods is up to you, but it also determines how much pain you’re in.
Up to this point we’ve been talking about the foundations, the core nutrients that the body uses to manage comfort and pain levels. Depending upon the source of the pain there are several routes to take from here. Let’s look at some topical solutions. If the pain is related to the joints then consider the Everflex Pain Relief cream, 2 to 5 times daily depending upon your pain level. This not only reduces discomfort but helps to rebuild the joint. The Tei Fu Massage Lotion, while helpful for joint pain is also good for muscle strain and general pain. It stimulates circulation and has an analgesic effect. All healing involves the fluids of the body, blood and lymph. Increasing circulation to an area accelerates the healing process.
For women, the Pro G Yam 500 cream, often helps reduce pain and promotes healing due to the anti-inflammatory action of natural progesterone and its function in the rebuilding of bone. Reference the Hormonal Harmony Chapter #10. This is a ‘ladies only’ product.
Healing AC Cream, an arnica-calendula combination is especially soothing for injuries. The good thing about using herbal products for reducing pain is that, besides not having any side effects, they also provide nutritional resources to the body. With these natural pain relievers you can feel comfortable using them over an extended period of time, although you may find it helpful to periodically alternate products. That way you give the body a wider variety of nutrients for rebuilding. Here are some pain relievers available in capsules.
APS II ® with White Willow Bark, is a wonderfully relaxing and gentle anti-inflammatory pain reliever, meant for short-term use. Triple Relief, is a cutting edge product that provides the body with a combination of pain reducers. IF-C, is a traditional Chinese formula that removes heat from the body. It’s very helpful for dealing with all kinds of inflammation as well as swelling from an injury. Kava Kava, is wonderful for muscle strain and back pain besides being a great mood elevator.
The body is not meant to be in pain, but It is the only way that the body has of asking for help. Usually what the body is asking for is to be fed the correct foods!
Everflex Cream, a combination containing CMO’s has been shown in studies to give relief for joint pain 100% of the time.
