27: Face-Lift in a Bottle

Many of us have heard about liquid protein diets in the past. They were very effective but hard to maintain. The premise, however, is quite sound. High amounts of pure protein feed the muscles while burning fat cells. This enhances the fat to muscle conversion process, if the protein is taken at night before bedtime on a four hours empty stomach. That last bit is the difficult part, not eating for four hours prior to bedtime. That’s prime snack time!

One of the components of protein is called collagen. Women are familiar with this term as it is often an ingredient in rejuvenating cosmetic products and for good reason. Collagen is the structured part of the protein. It provides support and elasticity to all of the body parts that move, such as muscles, tendons, connective tissue, joints and of course, skin.

When collagen levels are low, the skin shows this deficit first since muscles, tendons connective tissue & joints are a higher priority for the body. Of course, supplementing with extra collagen throughout the day, regardless of the fullness or emptiness of the stomach, can aid in rebuilding connective tissue of all types, but the most visible effect is that seen on the skin.

I (Lahni) had a challenge with deteriorated connective tissue due to a previous protracted illness and began to supplement with NSP’s Collatrim capsules to rebuild the damage. As I made progress, I cut back the amount I was taking and to my chagrin, I noticed that I was developing little chipmunk cheeks . You all know what I’m talking about! When we reach a certain age, it seems as though certain muscles & skin tissue just say, Okay, let go! I added the amino acid l-Carnitine and boosted my Collatrim amounts to the previous amount and lo and behold, the skin tightened right up again.

What’s more, I noticed the same effect on my upper arms; you know that little waggle that you’re sure must have been your imagination! L-Carnitine is the amino acid responsible for muscle tone and is mainly found in meat products. If you follow a vegetarian diet, you definitely want to supplement with this amino acid, as one of the most important muscles to keep toned is the heart!

I know you’re asking, ‘How much should I take? I take 9 capsules of Collatrim and 2 capsules of l-Carnitine, 3 times per day. Before you start yelling, “That’s an awful lot! let me explain that first of all, this is food for your connective tissue. Would you be yelling if I told you to eat 9 peas and 2 raspberries, 3 times a day? Secondly, 9 capsules are equal to approximately one tablespoon. That doesn’t seem like too much food for you, does it?

If you really want to boost this Face-Lift Program up another notch, add IGF-1 Spray (1 oz.). I like to call this my ‘Spray Age Away’ product. It tastes great, satisfies your craving for something sweet and gives you a measured amount of IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor), which is everyman’s safer alternative to expensive HGH (human growth hormone) shots. You have the highest natural level of IGF-1 when you are 10 years old. Think of how much skin and muscle tone you had then! After age 30, IGF levels decrease by 14% every 10 years. P.S. If you are doing some serious weight loss, you’ll also find this program helpful to restore the skin and muscle tone. The addition of l-Carnitine is extremely important, because often when a person loses weight they also lose muscle mass and tone. The heart is a muscle and if it loses mass and tone you’re in big trouble. l-Carnitine is an essential amino acid.

That means it must come in the diet. It cannot be synthesized by the body. Additionally, in foods l-Carnitine is only found in meat, poultry and fish.
