This family owns hundreds of acres of vines in Rutherford, although most of the grapes are sold to other wineries. They also grow olives and their well known press is across the way. They do olive tastings there by appointment. The rather spectacular winery at the end of a long palm tree lined drive was created for the small percentage of grapes that they hold to for their own tasting room.
It only figures that they hold onto some of the best. The tasting room is beautiful and elegant, the staff is knowledgeable and the only hard part is getting an appointment, since they make limited wines and are only open on certain days. However, it is worth the effort because this is one of Rutherford's great wine estates. Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo. AWG Rating 86
