This is a romantic jewel, a small, family owned winery, owned by people who have a love of all things Italian. The name means 'Well Being' in Italian and between the beautiful location, the intimate, but friendly tasting room and the wonderfully made wines that describes the place quite well. There are very few wineries in the North Bay wine country that specialize in Italian style wines.
Originally Luna aimed in that direction but now they only make a popular Pinot Grigio, which they don’t even serve at the winery most days.Over in Sonoma there are several wineries with the Italian spirit; Seghesio in Healdsburg, and then Jacuzzi and Viansa in Sonoma Carneros. Benessere does a very good job with the Italian varietals and they make a nice change to the barrage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay that the valley seems awash in. There are tables outside under the rose arbor in case you want to have a snack. There are also Sangiovese vines by the front door. They have a great dog! Wines: Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Syrah, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Muscat di Canelli, Super Tuscan style blend. AWG Rating 89
