Notes: One of the good things about both of the Family Wineries tasting rooms is that the vineyards they pour for tend to be in their vicinity. If wine incorporates its sense of place into its identity, then tasting the wines near to where they were grown carries more emotional juice. It is one of the reasons that people visit wine regions around the world. It is not just for the scenary, but for the connection. Many California tasting rooms pour wines from distant locations, and there is nothing wrong with that, good wine travels well. But, it is always great to taste the wine around the same woods and flowers, and under the same sky as the grapes were grown. In both locations they have gathered an exceptional group of small winemakers, with a good variety of grapes and styles.
