Markham Vineyards: 2812 St Helena Hwy N. (Rt 29) St. Helena
707.963.5292 www.markhamvineyards.com Hrs: 11-5 TF: $$-$$$ Wines: Merlot, Cab Sauv, Sauv Blanc, Chard. Notes: A spacious tasting room with an art gallery featuring photography of Rock & Roll icons from the 60’s and 70’s, a nice gift shop and some good, well-priced wines. A nice tasting staff.

Notes: They have been growing grapes along side the Russian River for generations. Wonderful Russian River Pinot and Chard. A comfy, rustic tasting room filled with great, home style Gifts. A friendly & knowledgeable staff. They are just a short distance off of Highway 101 in a converted Hop Kiln. A must visit.


Matanzas Creek Winery: 6097 Bennett Valley Rd. Santa Rosa (Bennett Valley)

Notes: They are west of Glen Ellen along a narrow road, a beautiful Asian style winery with lavender gardens, gift shop and tours. They offer estate made lavender products with their seriously good wines. They are owned by Jess Jackson, who lives nearby.

Mayo Family Winery: 13101 Arnold Dr. Glen Ellen
707.938.9401 www.mayofamilywinery.com Hrs: 10-6:30 TF: $ Wines: 30 to 40 wines. Notes: They have two locations, including this one at the traffic light where Arnold Avenue meets Rt. 12. They are a family-owned and run winery, very relaxed with an amazing collection of wines. Their winery is by their home in the Bennett Valley. Although the name sounds Irish, the family is actually from France. Very relaxed and friendly with well-made wines.


Mazzocco Vineyards: 1400 Lytton Springs Rd. Healdsburg (Northern Sonoma)

Notes: This is a very pretty winery perched up on a rise near a little airport. The original owner lived in LA and liked the spot because he could fly up in his plane and walk next door. They make some great Chard, and Rhone-style wines. The tasting room is bright and airy with a nice staff. It makes a great stop between Dry Creek and Alexander valleys.

Merryvale Vineyards: 1000 Main St. St. Helena
707.963.7777 www.merryvale.com Hrs: 10 - 6:30 TF: $$-$$$ Wines: Sauv Blanc, Semillon, Chard, Merlot, Cab Sauv, Fortified Dessert Wine, Zin, Pinot Noir. Notes: This building was once owned by the Mondavi family during the days of bulk winemaking. It sits beside the railroad tracks, and they would pull the tanker cars into the barrel room. Now that room is used for events and it is grand. They have a nice gift section, a very festive tasting room that is open late compared to their neighbors. The wines are first rate and they are next to the restaurants Tra Vigne, Pizzeria Tra Vigne & Taylors Refresher, and walking distance to downtown St Helena. Obviously there are many things that make this a popular winery.


Michel Schlumberger Fine Wine: 4155 Wine Creek Rd. Healdsburg (Dry Creek Valley)

Notes: This is a pretty winery in a classic building with a good reputation. They are on a side road off of West Dry Creek Road. They are by appointment and they do a nice tour. They have that wonderful North Sonoma casual friendliness that makes for a great tasting experience.


Mietz Cellars: Tastings at Family Wineries. Healdsburg (Dry Creek Valley)
Wines: Sauv Blanc Pinot Noir, Cab Sauv, Merlot, Sangiovese, Zin, Petit Verdot, Claret.


Milat Vineyards Winery: 1091 St Helena Hwy (Rt 29). S St. Helena

Wines: Chenin Blanc, Chard, Merlot, Zin, Cab Sauv, Port, Chocolate Port Sauce. Notes: A small, family-owned winery that produces very good wines at reasonable prices. Great location, although the tasting room doesn't handle a big crowd.

Mill Creek Vineyards & Winery: 1401 Westside Rd. Healdsburg (Russian River)

Miner Family Vineyards: 7850 Silverado Trail Oakville

Notes: The building is perched above the Silverado Trail with great views. It is a fun tasting room with a nice staff. As of this printing, they don't own vineyards, so they buy grapes from a wide variety of locations to produce their excellent wines. Great building and caves.

Monticello Cellars: 4242 Big Ranch Rd. Napa (Oak Knoll)

Moon Mountain Vineyard: 1700 Moon Mountain Dr. Sonoma (Sonoma Valley)
707.996.5870 www.moonmountainvineyard.com Hrs: by appointment Tue-Sat Tours at 10:30 & 2:30 only. TF: $-$$ Wines: Cab Sauv, Sauv Blanc, Chard. Notes: These are some of the oldest caves in Sonoma. The buildings are very interesting, and the site is incredible, at the tops of the mountains, on the edge of the Mount Veeder district of Napa. A good tour and a very winding road to get there with great views.

Notes: Tours, photo gallery, gardens, gifts, pet friendly, great vews. Sparkling wines. A fun place, taste sitting in the glass enclosed tasting room or on the patio. A festive staff, not surprising since they’re pouring bubbly all day. They can handle larger parties but call in advance. Great gifts and the views over the vineyards at sunset are great. Chocolate is always available.

Murphy-Goode Estate Vineyard & Winery: 20 Matheson St. Healdsburg Tasting Room

Muscardini Cellars: 8910 Sonoma Hwy Kenwood (Sonoma Valley)
707.933-9305 www.muscardinicellars.com Hrs: 11-6 TF: $$ CWP Wines: Rosato di Sangiovese, Zin, Barbera, Syrah, Cab Sauv. Notes: They share their tasting room with Ty Caton. They are good examples of how much microclimates and grape selections can create unique & delicious results. The wines are well made and full of that lovely Sonoma depth and complexity.
